the party through the curtain

cast now into black shadows a merciless dark,
protrudes from beneath and upon deck to consume.
from calmed seas and swells a fury full forth swirls,
ripping gnawing gentle roots, newly set and sweet,
not fully formed an idea, the notion, the cheek!
this sought out desire, new, novel. the chance,
for one real thing, one purity in body.
happiness an animal released.
But through timbers flourished and mountains still growing,
through grass green so green, the restless desire
the devilish wink. it moves here and there,
light footed and sly. watching.
weakened doubt inviting more seductive hands
beckon and entice away, smells smoke, sweetmeats, liqueur
through the scarlet curtains wofts like mist.
the hoarse voices of hedonist kings ruined and terrible,
call out for flesh, fuck. fizz, sigh, gasp,
the line stretches back, the people gaze
the people lust, their thousands trapped,
in a glamorous party long, hard and damned

choices

passing winds and dust, ebbed away, times prize
a wasted creature, thinned and eyes dark with emptiness.
gone now all things. colour.  a timeless haze upon furrowed brow.
lost are faces and laughter now murmurs and echoes.
distant music down grey corridors, floating broken, flat.
the chalice passed and the back broken,
choices after choices as pages and pages torn out and burnt
and in a ghost of smoke, takes form and is gone.
